The #3F Fishtail Tools by Pfeil Swiss Made feature a blade that is thin and light, with a flared end and a slight curvature. These tools are useful for light wood finishing, lettering, skimming, and modeling. They’re also great tools for cleaning out corners and undercutting, particularly when side clearance is limited. They can be used to easily reach tight places where a full-width gouge would not fit.

A Fishtail Tool is a chisel with a flared blade that resembles the tail of a fish. The #3F Fishtail Tools by Pfeil Swiss Made (as shown above) features a slightly curved flared blade. We carry all of Pfeil’s other Fishtail series, including #1F, #5F, #7F, and #9F. The larger the series number is, the deeper the curvature on the flared blade. For example, the #9F has a steeper curve than the #5F, and the #3F has a much gentler curve than the #7F, while the #1F is completely flat.
